LOS ANGELES - American stand-up comedian Ray Romano, who has voiced the grouchy and moody mammoth Manny in “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs”, says his character in the movie follows his own real-life path.
The 51-year-old star, who shot to fame with sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond”, revealed that in the new film, Manny is facing up to the prospect of impending fatherhood and struggling to cope with the panic just like he did when his daughter Alexandra was born in 1990.
“When you see the movie and the panic it brings to Manny, I reacted the same way with my first kid because it becomes a reality all of a sudden. I did everything wrong in the beginning so my wife was just telling me to get out of the way,” Romano said in a statement released here Tuesday.
“I went to pick up my wife and baby from the hospital and I parked in a towaway zone so we came out and the car was gone. We had to take a cab home with a very annoyed wife and a 4 pound human in my arms…I relate a lot to him (Manny),” he added.
“Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” is releasing July 3 in India. Also dubbed in Hindi, it will hit the screens in a 3D-version.
