WASHINGTON - Hugh Hefner has said that he would have “killed himself” if he missed the ‘Playmate of the Year’ dinner.
It was for the first time in Playboy’s history, that the ‘50th Anniversary Playmate Event’ was moved from the octogenarian’s iconic Holmby Hills mansion to the glamorous grounds of the Grand Ballroom in Sin City’s Palms Place Hotel and Resort on May 2.
There were reports that the 83-year-old tycoon might just miss the bash this year because of health concerns.
However, known for his never-ending juvenescence, Hefner did make it to Sin City for the event.
“I was feeling under-the-weather this week and nearly didn’t make it here,” Fox News quoted Hefner as saying.
He added: “But I would have killed myself if I didn’t make it. This (event) tops them all; this is a special, special day for me.”
And at the bash, Hefner uttered a flabbergasted “wow” as he greeted 2009’s recipient, the 50th Playmate of the Year and the first ever African-European to take the honours- Ida Ljungqvist.
Meanwhile, Holly Madison was the only of Hefner’s former ‘Girls Next Door’ who attended the busty and bountiful party. (ANI)
