Jane Fonda hits out at Hollywood’s ‘cult of perfection’

LONDON - Slamming the “cult of perfection” that exists in Hollywood, Jane Fonda has demanded that a picture of her on the cover of the latest issue of Good Housekeeping should not be airbrushed.

The 73-year-old told Good Housekeeping to show her as she really is so readers could appreciate that wrinkles can be beautiful, reports the Daily Express.

This comes a year after the screen legend admitted to having had plastic surgery herself - including a bust enlargement in 2002, and extensive “work” done on her chin, eyes and neck.

Fonda told the magazine that she wished women would not put so much pressure on themselves to meet an aesthetic ideal.

“I feel so sorry for young actresses coming up. There are always photographers everywhere,” she said.

“If they have a dimple in their buttock, there’s a close-up of it in some gossip magazine.

“So there’s this cult of perfection. Consequently all the young people who emulate celebrities think they have to look perfect and that’s so destructive,” she added. (ANI)
