LONDON - Andrew Garfield has said that winning the role of Spider-Man was a dream come true.

The ‘Social Network’ actor was chosen to star in a new prequel, taking over from Tobey Maguire, who quit the franchise last year after three Spider-Man movies.

Garfield admitted that he used to practice famous lines from the original 2002 movie with his friend Terry, and each would insist they were the perfect candidate to play the superhero.

“Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words, ‘With great power comes great responsibility’. This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I’m Spider-Man,” the Daily Star quoted him, as telling the Sun.

“I would be in the mirror practising his final line over and over and over again, and me and Terry would diss each other’s interpretations of it. He would constantly say… ‘No, no, you’ll never be Spider-Man. I’ll be Spider-Man’, he added.

“So as soon as I got the news I emailed him and was like, ‘Hey dude, remember six years ago when we were talking about who would be Spider-Man? You didn’t get it!” said Garfield. (ANI)
