MELBOURNE - Hollywood actor Will Smith has reportedly been signed by British pop mogul Simon Cowell to be a judge on the American version of ‘The X Factor’.

Smith is apparently set to join UK singer Cheryl Cole and another-as yet unnamed-female judge for the launch of the show in 2011.

“Simon thinks Will and Cheryl will be a brilliant formula. He’s one of the biggest names in America, and considered to be a talented musician as well as actor,” the Herald Sun quoted a source as telling the Sunday Mirror.

“Simon is desperate to make the US X Factor the biggest show in the world … It is a completely new challenge and he is genuinely excited by it,” added the source.

‘The X Factor’ is due to premiere in the US in September. (ANI)
