MUMBAI - Director Samir Karnik was sad bad when he couldn’t create any role for Vatsal Seth in “Yamla Pagla Deewana”, who has been a part of his earlier film. But he was relieved when the trailer of latter’s long pending movie “Hostel” was attched to his comedy.
Vatsal is not a big star yet. But he’s my lucky mascot. I’ve cast him in all my films so far. When I could find no role for him in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’, I was heartbroken. I felt something to be amiss. I thought I’d have to live with that regret. But something strange happened, said Karnik who worked with Vatsal in “Nanhe Jaisalmer”and “Heroes”.
When I heard the trailer of Vatsal’s film was being attached to ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’, I felt it was almost fate’s intervention. Think about it. ‘Hostel’ is a film that could’ve come any time. But it came around and was fixed for a time when its trailer could be attached to my film. So finally, there is Vatsal in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ in an indirect way. I think the two of us have a karmic connection or shall I say, Karnik connection?
Vatsal, who started his film career with “Taarzan: The Wonder Car”, is still struggling to find his bearings. Now Karnik has decided to cast Vatsal as a sardarji in the sequel to “Yamla Pagla Deewana”.
I owe him that, said Karnik.
