Over 200 films to feature in Kerala film festival

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - Over 200 films from 83 countries will feature in the 15th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) that kicks off here Friday, a release said Wednesday.
The festival will have 16 categories under which 207 films would be screened.
German filmmaker Werner Herzog would be conferred with a lifetime achievement award.
About 14 films, including four Indian and five Latin American, would compete for the top honours.
The African-American filmmaker Julie Dash, will head the jury and would include Maria Novara, Mexican film director, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Thai film director, and Sooni Taraporevala, Indian script writer and photographer.
An amount of Rs.15 lakh will be shared equally by the filmmaker and producer of the film winning The Golden Crow Pheasant Award.
The best director will win an amount of Rs.four lakh and the Silver Crow Pheasant Award.
