NEW DELHI - SAB TV, known for its light-hearted shows, is set to entertain its viewers with two new magic-comedies - “Ring Wrong Riing” and “Gili Gili Gappa”.
“We have always tried to present something new and fresh to our viewers. Magic-comedy is a genre that has not been touched by our channel. Both the shows will bring fresh humour to the audiences,” Anooj Kapoor, executive vice president and business head of SAB TV, told IANS at the launch of the shows Wednesday.
“We have experimented within the comedy genre with silent, horror, gangster and courtroom comedy. I really think that magic-comedy is a very exciting genre and has a lot of potential. I am glad we were the ones who got the opportunity to bring back that genre after such a long lull,” he added.
Earlier, “Shararat” and “Son Pari” were the two magic-comedies, shown on Star Plus, which struck a chord with audiences.
“Ring Wrong Riing” is about Mansi Chouhan, played by Muskaan Mihani, a dutiful and hardworking housewife who can go to any extent to keep her family happy. Seeing her plight, her magician father-in-law Dinanath Chouhan, played by Rakesh Bedi, gifts her a magical ring.
Mansi uses the ring to please everyone, but things often get out of hand and lead to crazy and funny situations. The show also marks the comeback of Asif Sheikh, popularly known as Mr. Verma of hit sitcom “Yess Boss”. He will be seen as Mansi’s husband Vijay Chouhan.
“Ring Wrong Riing” goes on air Dec 13 and “Gili Gili Gappa” will be unveiled three days later.
“Gili Gili Gappa” is about three children, their policeman father and their nani (maternal grandmother). Shweta Gulati, Varun Badola and Shoma Anand play lead roles in it.
While “Ring Wrong Riing” will be aired Monday-Wednesday, “Gili Gili Gappa” will be shown Thursday-Friday at 7.30p.m.
