LOS ANGELES - Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle says there is a possibility of working on a sequel to his 1996 film “Trainspotting”.

The film was based on a novel by Irvine Welsh, and a book sequel to it already exists in the form of “Porno”. So, Boyle doesn’t rule out a film sequel either, and that too with the original cast, reports imdb.com.

“It will happen, I think. I mean, we’ll approach them all again about it, but it will depend on what place theyre all at We have a very strong idea that it would be a wonderful thing to reapproach, to do again, when they have aged clearly into a mid-life kind of crisis, basically. Theyre not quite there yet, I don’t think,” said Boyle.

The book “Porno” is set some years after “Trainspotting”, and features all the main characters from the earlier story. Boyle is perhaps waiting for the actors to reach the right age to make a realistic sequel.

Boyle feels “Porno” has a good potential to be adapted on screen.

“‘Porno’ is not a great book in the way that ‘Trainspotting’, the original novel, is genuinely a masterpiece, I think, as a piece of writing. But we have been doing some work on it, and it’s got potential, yeah, for sure. And when the moment’s right, I think we will approach it,” he said.
