The Jagapatibabu-Meera Jasmine starrer ‘Bangarubabu’ directed by Jonnalagadda Srinivasa Rao and produced by K Ramakrishna Prasad on the banner of Sowbhagya Media Pvt Ltd is all set for release on May 1. The speciality of the film is that senior-most director Dasari Narayana Rao penned the story and screenplay. Addressing the media, the producer says, ‘It is a film that could be watched by the entire family by sitting together. We are planning to release the film with 35 prints across the State through Siri Media.’ Director says, ‘We brought out the film with a fantastic family drama penned by Dasari Narayana Rao. Especially, he highlighted the relationship between brothers in an attractive manner. Our hero Jagapatibabu would appear in a handsome family role and in fact, that was the way his fans in general and the women in particular want to watch him. It is not just the money, but the family and human relations are important is the message we are going to give through this movie. We are sure that the film would also earn a good name to Sashank and Sonu Sood. MM Srilekha scored melodious tunes for the movie.’

Maharaja moving smoothly

The shooting of Maharaja is moving smoothly. Recently a sequence of Nasser’s kidnap was shot in Bharathidasan Nagar in KKR Nagar in Chennai. The shooting of the film took place in Chennai and is being continued in Hyderabad. The songs will be shot in Malaysia. The film is being produced by J Ravi under the banner of Jayaram Creations. T Manoharan has penned down the story, screenplay and dialogues and is also taking care of the direction of the flick. T Iman has composed the music for the lyrics jotted down by Na Muthukumar, Pa Vijay, Snegan and Yuga Bharathi. Making his debut with Valluvan Vasuki, Sathya would be seen in the lead role. Kattradhu Tamil Anjali and Samurai Anitha are the two heroines of this film. The other cast includes Nasar, Saranya, Karunas, Kovai Sarala and Venir Adai Murthy. - SAMPURN

B. Saroja Devi honoured at BIFFES

Veteran actor B. Saroja Devi was honoured by Mrs. Parvathamma Rajkumar on the third day of Bengalooru International Film Festival. Expressing her happiness, Saroja Devi said, "It was indeed a pleasure to remember the old memories while seeing the photo exhibition of 75 years of Kannada Cinema. After Cyanide comes Police Headquarters

After earning a lot of appreciation from both masses as well as critics for his daring film Cyanide, based of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, A.M.R. Ramesh is now making yet another hard hitting flick titled Police Headquarters which is inspired by a true incident which took place in 1982. The film is also being made in Tamil named Kavalar Kudiyiruppu. The film will introduce new faces Anees Tejeswar and Sonu. It is been produced by Anitha and Indumathi under the banner of Vasishta films. The films story and screenplay has been done by the director himself. After producing films like Ammuvaagiya Naan and Mathi Yosi, P S K Sekhar is now coming up with Kaveri Thalaivan in which Srikanth plays the main lead. The creative team is still on the look out for an actress. The music of the flick is been composed by Srikanth Dave for the lyrics jotted down by Yuga Bharathy, Sneghan and Na Muthukumar. The story, screenplay and dialogues have been penned down by Vijayasekaran who would also be directing the movie. The film will be shot at the locations of Theni, Ambasamudiram, Trichy and Thanjavur. Akbar Kakkattil to be honoured

Noted Malayalam writer Akbar Kakkattil, who recently published ‘Idam Porul Kalai’, the Tamil biography of renowned Malayalam director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, has been chosen for the Sambasivan award instituted by the Kuwait-based cultural forum, Kala Kuwait. Instituted in memory of eminent ‘Katha Prasangam’ artist late V. Sambasivan, the award, comprising Rs. 20,000 and a citation, will be presented in a function in Kuwait in April. Akbar was selected for his outstanding contribution to Malayalam literature, the organizers said in a press release in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. Young producer Madesh passes away

Young producer of unreleased flick Sacha, Madeh has unfortunately passed away due to brain hemorrhage at a Bangalore hospital on Thursday. He was just 35 years old. An entrepreneur owning two bars and one restaurant in Bangalore, Madesh entered the film world by producing Sacha. The music launch of Sacha was conducted on a8th of December and the film is expected to release soon. It was a sad moment for Madesh’s family and the film industry as the young producer passed away without seeing his dream film releasing. The producer had been under treatment for a kidney ailment for the past few years.

Diganth’s busy schedule

Gaalipata famed actor Diganth is a very busy man. He has just returned from US after shooting for his film E Preethi. Diganth has also finished shooting for two movies, Bisile and Housefull. His latest release was Mast Majaa Maadi which is still doing good business at the box office.
