Oka Ammayi Oka Abbayi audio launchedDirected by Ram Kumar of ‘Tinnama Padukunnama Tellarinda’-fame, and produced by Y Alex of ‘Khaki Chokka and Ashoka Chakram’-fame, ‘Oka Ammayi Oka Abbayi’ (Out of calling area) had Krishna in a key role. Viswas is making his debut as hero through this movie, while Rupa Kaur and Lahari are playing the heroines. Varikuppala Yadagiri scored tunes for the flick. The audio of the film was launched at an impressive function held at Prasad Labs. A Ranesh Prasad of Prasad Labs released the audiocassettes while YS Madanmohan Reddy, brother of Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, unveiled the audio CDs. Speaking on the occasion the producer says, ‘I have produced many action and mass films in my 15-year career. However, for the first time, I brought out a beautiful love story to attract class audiences.’ The director says, ‘It is a love story with suspense in its backdrop.’ Aditya Music is marketing the audio.
Shooting started of ShivakashiShivakashi, featuring Ajith of Patre Loves Padma fame, Manasi of Moggina Manasu fame and Yogesh Veer in the lead roles hit the floors on 19th of January. The shooting of the flick is scheduled to start on 10th of March and it is going to be shot in a stretch for 30 days. The story revolves round incidents that happen in Melbourne within a span of 24 hours. Caught in the middle of these incidents are five friends led by Girish and Hemanth. Tina Ponnapa, the Coorg girl who won the national award for her first film Meera (Tamil) is the heroine of 24 Hours in Melbourne. Director of films, Meghana, Sinchana, Nimma Shanker Nag and Aa Ondhu Kanasu, is going to direct the flick. Other cast members include Sharma, Chandrasekhar, Shashidhar and Reeta.

Bala was judging a Star Singer show on a private channel and in the process fell for the contestant Amritha who has just appeared for her Plus 2 examinations. Tamil film Subrahmanyapuram in Telugu The hit Tamil film ‘Subrahmanyapuram is now being dubbed into Telugu and it has been titled as ‘Ananthapuram 1980’. The Telugu version is being produced by M Ranganath on the Simhapuri Talkies banner. Colours Swathi is the heroine in the revenge drama. Sasi Kumar is the director. Theatre festival to be held in ThrissurNoted Indian director Mysore Shrinivas Sathyu, popularly known as M.S. Sathyu, will inaugurate a theatre festival in Thrissur, organized by Nataka Souhridam from April 3 to April 5 as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations. The plays to be staged are Kurthippadam (Malayalam), Agni Mattu Male (Kannada) and Mahadevbhai (English). M.S. Sathyu, critic Sadanand Menon, dramatist G. Kumara Varma and academic M.V. Narayanan will take part in seminars to be held on April 4 and April 5. An exhibition of theatre-related photographs and posters, curated by Sadanand Menon, will also be held.
Shooting ends for Hindi Pokkiri Producers seem to play safe and invest their money in the films which has already been liked by the audiences and this banking on remakes. Mahesh Babu starrer Pokkiri was appreciated highly and did a good business at the box office. Seeing its success, Prabhu Deva and Vijay instantly decided to cash on it and remade the Telugu version of the flick which was directed by Puri Jaganath. But this was not the end as Salman Khan and producer Boney Kapoor got highly impressed with the film and decided to remake it in Hindi. Ayesha Takia is the actress while Mahesh Manjrekar and Vinod Khanna would also be seen playing important. The shooting of the flick has gotten over and it would really be interesting to see whether the flick yet again proves to be lucky for the producer or not. Prabhu’s Kannada flickPrabhu, son of Sivaji Ganesan and noted Tamil actor is acting in his first Kannada film Boss which features challenging star Darshan and Navya Nair in the lead roles. Akbar Kakkattil to be honouredNoted Malayalam writer Akbar Kakkattil, who recently published ‘Idam Porul Kalai’, the Tamil biography of renowned Malayalam director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, has been chosen for the Sambasivan award instituted by the Kuwait-based cultural forum, Kala Kuwait. Instituted in memory of eminent ‘Katha Prasangam’ artist late V. Sambasivan, the award, comprising Rs. 20,000 and a citation, will be presented in a function in Kuwait in April. Akbar was selected for his outstanding contribution to Malayalam literature, the organizers said in a press release in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. Young producer Madesh passes awayYoung producer of unreleased flick Sacha, Madeh has unfortunately passed away due to brain hemorrhage at a Bangalore hospital on Thursday. He was just 35 years old. An entrepreneur owning two bars and one restaurant in Bangalore, Madesh entered the film world by producing Sacha. The music launch of Sacha was conducted on a8th of December and the film is expected to release soon. It was a sad moment for Madesh’s family and the film industry as the young producer passed away without seeing his dream film releasing. The producer had been under treatment for a kidney ailment for the past few years. Diganth’s busy schedule Gaalipata famed actor Diganth is a very busy man. He has just returned from US after shooting for his film E Preethi. Diganth has also finished shooting for two movies, Bisile and Housefull. The role of Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean has given Johnny Depp a cult status and a great fan following all around the world. We still don’t know the reason that prompted the producer to recreate Captain Jack Sparrow with Puneeth. But one thing is for sure this look of Puneeth would definitely attract a lot of eyeballs and gain a good publicity for the flick. The film is set to hit the theatres on 24th of April which coincides with Rajkumar’s birthday. The film is using the most expensive camera for shooting, which costs Rs. 5 lakhs rent a day.
