NEW DELHI - “Namaste”, the traditional way of greeting guests and clients faded into obscurity thanks to “Hellos” and “Hi”, so when at a plush beauty saloon one is greeted in an Indian way with a smile, the feeling of being at home settles in and one is eager to take the relaxing ride.

The VLCC Skin and Hair Spa at Safdarjung Enclave in south Delhi is on the main road and there were apprehensions about being bothered by traffic noise and disturbances. It was also feared that the first timers will doubt their decision to choose the place for a relaxing massage after a busy and tiring day.

But once you enter this one-stop-shop for beauty treatments and relaxation massages, the feel-good-factor and hospitable staff makes you confident about your decision. The best part is that the two-floor salon is sound proof, hence whatever is happening outside, one remains unaffected by it.

Spread over an area of 3,400 square metres, the destination specialises in medical skin treatments, exotic massages like aroma body massage, hot stone massage and many more.

With no fancy dcor, the place with crme coloured walls and matched modern furniture has a soothing effect on you. With no music in the background, it is meant to focus on one thing - discovering yourself.

Some of the best features of this place is fusion massage - a crafted blend of traditional Chinese acupressure, along with more modern refinements like Japanese shiatsu, Thai massage, Indian chakra balancing and breathing techniques.

The pampering massage starts off with a dry hand massage and then vitamine E oil is applied gently and effectively on all over body, focusing on the pressure points - neck, lower back and forehead. As the masseur applies pressure on the body, one easily slips in the slumber of peace and relaxation.

The techniques helps combat stress by trying to reduce the tension in the muscles and also boosts body’s immune system. Fusion therapy also promotes nutrient delivery to healing tissue caused by extended periods of stress.

At the end of the massage, bodyache and other pain just vanishes in thin air and a feeling of ecstasy blows the mind.

Vandana Luthra, VLCC’s founder, says she has plans to open up day spas in other parts of the country too.

There as as many as 30 staff and all of them are trained before they start giving the service.

And another important aspect of the spa is hygine - before any treatment, a masseur doesn’t forget to use a hand sanitizer.

And if you have time, you can also go for organic facial for skin brightening.
