NEW DELHI - The VLCC Institute of Beauty and Nutrition - one of India’s best beauty vocational training centres - has launched a digitised format of beauty courses for its students across 51 campuses in 39 cities.

These computer-generated courses cover all aspects of beauty treatment — hair-care, nutrition, make-up, facials and obesity with experts discussing how to deal with a particular problem or treatment.

This will enable uniform standards of training and expertise for students across all our centres. The digitised training material has been developed to the highest standards with innovative content and new approach, Vandana Luthra, founder and mentor of VLCC told IANS at the launch here Friday.

It took us nine months to do the R&D for this because we didn’t want to go wrong. So it’s like our baby and through this we want to help our students, she added.

VLCC Institute of Beauty & Nutrition was established in India in 2001 and apart from metropolises, they have campuses in cities like Lucknow, Kochi, Jaipur, Kanpur, Meerut, Sonepat, Amritsar and Ludhiana.

Talking about how this initiative will help students, Luthra said: A beauty process or a treatment can’t be learned in just one go. It is an art and more of a do-it-yourself experiment and understanding.

We also have experts commenting on various aspects of beauty and they will also discuss what to do and what not to do during any procedure, she said.

Apart from this, they will also be developing course curriculum for health and beauty courses for NGO Navjyoti to empower women and will also hold Train the Trainers programmes with the objective of providing relevant training to them.

I believe in empowering women. A woman should have three ‘m’ in her life - mobility, muscle (fitness) and money. If she has this, she can be happy. At our organisation, we try to develop these three in women by educating them and making them independent, said Kiran Bedi, founder of Navjyoti.

Today everyone wants to look good and feel good. What is the harm in that and with VLCC helping us to educate these woman, they are contributing in a very big way to make them feel good, added the former cop.
