NEW DELHI - Delhi Metro’s five-km elevated Sarita Vihar-Badarpur section will begin operations from Friday, a statement said.

A Delhi Metro statement said the stretch - with stations at Mohan Estate, Tughlakabad and Badarpur - will mainly benefit commuters in south Delhi and Faridabad (Haryana).

Services will commence from 8 a.m. Friday. From Saturday, the timings will be 6 a.m. onwards.

With the opening of this stretch, the footfalls at the Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor will increase to 2.25 lakh from the current 1.25 lakh.

Four additional standard gauge trains with a peak hour frequency of four minutes will be pressed into service, thereby increasing the total number of trains to 20 for catering to the increased rush on the corridor, the statement said.
