Pic of Playboy pin-up who ‘went to the moon and back’ to be auctioned

LONDON - A picture of DeDe Lind, a Playboy Playmate in 1967 whose picture made it on to the Apollo 12 voyage, is set to go under the hammer.
The yellowing image, which was stored away in command module Yankee Clipper as a joke, will go to the highest bidder.
Apollo 12’s ground crew stashed the photo so that the spacemen would get a shock when they found it.
Along with the picture, RR Auction Amherst, Massachusetts, will be selling other objects that have travelled into space, including an American flag Armstrong took on the Apollo 11 mission.
Lind’s photograph is described by RR Auction as, “Normal wear, as one would expect from an object that made the approximately 475,000 mile round-trip journey to the moon and back,” reports the Daily Mail.
A description of the object on the auctioneers’ site said of the photograph:
“This flown iconic piece of 1960s pop culture still retains its Velcro strips which were used to affix it inside the spacecraft. The “flight of the Playboy bunnies” has gone down in astronaut lore as one of the most iconic astronaut pranks.”
Mission commander Charles ‘Pete’ Conrad and Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean performed just over one day and seven hours of lunar surface activity while Command Module Pilot Richard Gordon remained in lunar orbit.
The description continues, “It was there, in the silence and loneliness of lunar orbit, that he discovered his surprise stowaway crew “mate”.”
The highest bidder will also receive a bonus prize: a signed photo from Miss Lind, now 63, that features the inscription, “Pete and Al left me with a great Dick in lunar orbit!” (ANI)
