LONDON - The white two-piece suit that John Lennon wore for the cover of The Beatles’ famous album ‘Abbey Road’ has been sold for more than 29,000 pounds at an auction.

The suit, made by French designer Ted Lapidus, and other Beatles memorabilia were sold for 29,400 pounds on Saturday at the Braswell Galleries’ annual New Year’s Day auction to an anonymous online bidder, reports the Telegraph.

The suit was expected to fetch as much as 76,800 pounds.

Galleries owner Kathy Braswell told the Connecticut Post that the holiday auction was their biggest event of the year.

Hank Gioiella of Darien paid 3,500 pounds for a rusted green 1972 Chrysler station wagon once owned by Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono. (ANI)
