MELBOURNE - Talk show host Oprah Winfrey is said to be relaxing in a 26,000dollar-a-night Fiji resort after her trip to Australia, reportedly accompanied by her partner Stedman Graham.

It is believed Winfrey, 56, arrived in Nadi on December 17 and checked into her palatial villa on the private Laucala Island, famous for its private golf course, beaches, lagoons and scenic panoramas.

The resort, owned by Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz, recently underwent a 30 million dollar redevelopment.

It consists of several villas but Winfrey has snagged the best - the coveted Hilltop Residence with three interlinked villas, hand-carved stone and timber bathtubs and an in-house chef service.

“She’s coming for a private visit and we respect her wishes to do so,” the Daily Telegraph quoted Fiji’s Tourism Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum as saying.

“Fiji is one of those destinations where we like people to come and have their own private time and we’re here to ensure that happens. We don’t want Fiji to become a playground for the paparazzi,” the minister added. (ANI)
