LONDON - Justin Bieber has backed a new campaign for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) by urging fans to adopt abandoned pets from shelters.

‘The Baby’ hitmaker has joined forces with the organisation to encourage more potential pet-owners to help find good homes for stray animals, reports the Daily Star.

Bieber poses with his own dog, Sam, in the promotional picture, which is accompanied by the tag: “My world includes compassion for animals. Yours should too”, in a reference to his hit album ‘My World 2.0′.

“We moved to a city where we didn’t really know anybody, so I kinda wanted a friend around. And Sam was kinda like that friend,” Bieber said.

“My Dad and I used to go and hang out… just go and visit the different animals and stuff. It’s really important that people adopt.

“I really encourage going out to an animal shelter or a place where you can get a dog that has been abandoned or doesn’t have a home,” he added. (ANI)
