MELBOURNE - Khloe Kardashian has been criticized for comparing US airport searches to rape.

In an interview with comedian George Lopez, Kardashian said, “Well, they basically just are raping you in public.”

“I got asked the other day, ‘do you want to go for a screening or get patted down?’ - I don’t want that X-Ray to see everything, honey,” she said.

Kardashian decided to go for the pat-down instead, an experience she decided was too close for comfort.

“The people are so aggressive. It’s like, ‘Chill out, you didn’t find anything on me yet, calm down’… They say, ‘OK, I’m going to be patting you down and I’m going to be touching the crease of your ass.’ That is so inappropriate,” News.com.au quoted the 26-year-old as she informed about the procedures.

However, as per the RadarOnline.com, Kardashian’s comments angered victim’s rights advocates who claim the TV star underestimated the severity of sexual assault.

“Rape is a crime of violence. I believe that the word should not be used loosely to describe security measures at airports or at any other place,” said high-profile lawyer Gloria Allred.

Jessica M Cavey, Communications Specialist for the National Sexual Violence Resource Centre said her use of the word rape “minimizes the experience of an actual rape, which is a very severe and traumatic form of violence.” (ANI)
