Mohan Veena creator to play in Pakistan festival

KARACHI - Grammy Award winner Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, who created the Mohan Veena, has been invited to play at a festival being organised in this city.

The Tehzeeb Foundation of Pakistan is organising its annual festival Dec 5 here and eminent classical vocalists and instrumentalists from India and Pakistan are expected to participate in it.

The participants from Pakistan include Ustad Rais Khan and his son Farhan Khan, Ustad Naseeruddin Sami, Fariha Pervez, and Asad Qizilbash, the News International reported Thursday.

Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt will also be participating. He won the Grammy Award in 1994 along with Ry Cooder for their album, “A meeting of the river”.

He created the stringed musical instrument Mohan Veena, which is a highly modified concord archtop.
