LONDON - Actress Emma Watson, who played the teenage wizard Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise for more than 10 years, says she is sad that the series has come to an end, but is excited at her future prospects.

“I will be here for over a decade by the time we’re done, and I’ll be ready to do new things. It’s been like my home, it’s been my school, it’s been like my family, it’s been everything, Contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.

“I’ll be sad to leave behind so many people I care about, but I’m also excited to do other things,” she said.

The 20-year-old also said that her alter-ego will go on her own journey in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Parts I and II, the final two movies in the series.

“Hermione has a really cool journey in this one. The film actually opens with Hermione leaving her parents’ house and wiping off their memories, which is really nice because you don’t actually read about that in the book, you just know that she does it. I think that all three characters have their own journeys in this one, and it’s been great for me,” she said.
