LONDON - Julianne Moore broke down in tears while talking about her late mother during a recent interview - the actress is still struggling to cope following the death of her mother last year.

Ann Love Smith passed away in April last year just hours after falling ill, while Moore was on her way to visit her.

‘The Hours’ actress has previously admitted she will always regret not being by her mother’s side when she died, and now 18 months on from the tragedy, Moore is still suffering.

When she was asked about her mum’s feminist stance in an interview with The Guardian newspaper, the actress started sobbing.

She fought back tears as she told the journalist about her mom.

“My mom, you know, I’m going to cry, sorry… My mother died a year and a half ago, and I’m still having a really hard time with it,” the Daily Star quoted her as saying.

Moore then paid tribute to her mum’s hardworking ethic, before trailing off again.

“She was, you know, she was married when she was 19, and she had three children really quickly, and she didn’t graduate from college until I was in the eighth grade, and then she got two master’s degrees, she worked so hard, and she always said, ‘You know, you can do anything you want, and have a career’, and… Sorry,” she added.
