NEW YORK - Jessica Simpson says she had a hard time coping with the pressure from people regarding her looks but praised beau Eric Johnson for being supportive.

At Maria Shriver’s Women’s Conference in Long Beach, Calif, the 30-year-old opened up to the audience and the press alike about the scrutiny under which she lives her everyday life.

“I went through a really hard time, a couple years back with people just harping on the pressure of how to look perfect - obviously using me and my weight,” the New York Daily News quoted her as telling USA Today.

Simpson said she still feels like “people are constantly curious as to how much I weigh or what I look like or what I wear,” and “there’s no way you’re not going to be affected by the ugly things people say about you. It’s very hurtful.”

Simpson credited boyfriend former NFL player Eric Johnson for standing by her side during her hard time.

“He definitely makes me very happy,” Simpson said.

“He brings out a lot of light in me and makes me very comfortable being who I am. It’s nice to be with somebody who praises you for the right reasons.” (ANI)
