LONDON - Never before seen photographs of former Beatle John Lennon taken two days before he was murdered have been made public.

The photos show him alongside his wife Yoko Ono and with top Radio One DJ Andy Peebles who was interviewing him.

Mark Hayward, who is selling the photos along with many others, said he began collecting negatives in the 1980s.

“I found an auction that was selling the negatives along with the copyright and I started buying them. Not just ones of Beatles but of many bands and musicians. It was something that I started doing in about 1986 and I just carried on and I amassed 11,000 different images,” the Sun quoted Hayward as saying.

“It was during this time that I bought the ones of John Lennon. They are the last ones of him ever taken. He had been doing an interview for Radio One and obviously when staff knew John Lennon was coming they were keen to be photographed with him,” he added.

Lennon’s three-hour interview with Peebles has become known as ‘The Last Lennon Tapes.’

Ironically, the DJ’s last question to him was about his personal security - to which Lennon replied that he felt safe and comfortable on the streets of New York.

The sale of the Lennon photographs and the last ten pictures is estimated to fetch up to 1,200 pounds. (ANI)
