LONDON - ‘X Factor’ judge Cheryl Cole has revealed that she was given just 24 hours to live after getting malaria.

Cheryl, 27, collapsed during The X Factor auditions after contracting the disease on a trip to Tanzania in June with dancer pal Derek Hough as he tried to take her mind off her divorce from love rat footballer Ashley.

She was in intensive care for three days as doctors prepared her mum Ann for the worst.

“I was given 24 hours at one point,” the Sun quoted Cheryl as telling Sara Cox on Radio 1.

“I was in and out of consciousness.

“Your body aches and your skin hurts to touch. I had blood tests.

“My mum was strong, she was my rock. I was in and out of consciousness. Yes, Derek helped me,” she said.

She blamed the illness on not taking her anti-malaria medication for long enough after she returned to England. (ANI)
