LONDON - Actresses Charlize Theron and Keira Knightley will go against each other on the big screen as they are both reportedly lined up to play Diana, Princess of Wales.

‘The Monster’ star is said to be in line to play the late royal in a film about her friendship with her former bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, who will be portrayed by actor Ewan McGregor.

However, the movie, which is due to start filming next year, will have some competition from Knightley, 25, who is also said to be playing the princess in another film.

“We are intending to make the authentic movie of Diana by using the voices of the people who were there - and Ken Wharfe was right there at her side at the most significant part of her life,” the Daily Star quoted Producer Stephen Evans, who is helming the Theron project, as telling the Daily Mail.

But bosses behind the Knightley movie are determined to outdo their rival film - they are said to be lining up Dame Helen Mirren, who won an Oscar for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006’s The Queen, to play Diana’s mother, Frances Shand Kydd. (ANI)
