LONDON - Singer Celine Dion, who is expecting twins, has been hospitalised in Florida to avoid premature delivery.

The 42-year-old is expecting twin boys with her husband Rene Angelil after undergoing months of invasive in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments to fall pregnant.

Dion, who is not due to give birth until next month, checked into a medical center Monday as a preventative measure to make sure she doesn’t go into labour early.

“Ms.Celine Dion… has been admitted to prevent the early delivery of her babies which is a fairly common clinical practice for mothers of twins. This is done to ensure the patient can be in close contact with their doctors and clinical resources, leading up to their birth. Celine and Rene have placed the health of their babies as their highest priority, femalefirst.co.uk quoted a statement from the hospital officials.

An official also confirmed that the security at the facility has been stepped up in the wake of Dion’s admission, and they dismiss rumours she is enjoying any special treatment.

“At no time did Ms Dion or her husband make any special demands or requests of the hospital, the statement added.
