LONDON - ‘Mad Men’ star Christina Hendricks has mouthed back on the critic, who labelled her a ‘big girl’.

The US actress, who is a size 14, wore a peach coloured strapless gown on the red carpet at the Golden Globes in January.

Thereafter, Cathy Horyn, the New York Times fashion critic, wrote on her blog, “Not pretty Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano’s exploding ruffle dress. (As one stylist said, ‘You don’t put a big girl in a big dress.’).”

The 35-year-old actress has now hit back as she gave her opinion in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

“To say something like that and put it next to a distorted picture discredits you entirely. And it hurt my feelings. I thought that dress was stunning,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

“I had just gotten back from my honeymoon and I felt beautiful in those pictures. I was smiling and beaming, and I felt like a goddess. It’s a celebration, and I’m here because the show I work on is being recognised as excellent work, and you’re going to tell everyone in the world that I was wearing a —— dress? Let me go to a party and wear my pretty dress,” she added.

The actress plays the feisty secretary, Joan Harris, in ‘Mad Men’, the critically acclaimed drama set in a 1960s US advertising agency. (ANI)
