A group of celebrity hikers including singers GABRIELLA CILMI and ALEXANDRA BURKE have raised over $150,000 (£100,000) for a U.K. cancer charity after completing a gruelling trek in Peru.

The stars headed to the famous Inca Trail last week (begs27Sep10) to raise awareness for breast cancer charities and garner donations for care and treatment.

The singers, along with British TV presenters Denise van Outen and Fearne Cotton, as well as six breast cancer survivors, scaled Peru’s mountains and rainforests and completed the challenge on Saturday (02Oct10).

And the group was thrilled when they were told they had raised a huge sum for good causes.

On her Twitter.com page, Burke writes, ‘What an experience ! Something I will never forget. Thanks2those who have sponsored us! It means the world to all of us!”

Cotton adds, “At the dinner we found out our total so far raised for breast cancer care! Over £100,000! So chuffed but we hope to build on this when home.”
