UP was the toast of the 37th Annual Annie Awards on Saturday (06Feb10) as the Pixar hit was named the Best Animated Film.

The Oscar-nominated film saw off competition from Coraline, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Secret of Kells as it landed the top prize at the Los Angeles ceremony, which recognises the best animated movies.
Up director Pete Docter also scooped the Best Directing in a Feature honour.
Disney’s hand-drawn family film The Princess and the Frog was also a big winner, landing three awards for Best Animated Effects, Best Character Animation in a Feature and Best Voiceacting in a Feature for Jennifer Cody, who plays Charlotte.
Directors Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach also went home with a trophy for their Fantastic Mr. Fox script.
