LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- ‘CSI: NY‘ is back on American screens with a new cast and in a new time slot. The show that got everyone talking after the lead actress Melina Kanakaredes decided to walk out of the show right before the start of the new season, has a fresh new face in the form of Sela Ward. Season 7 of the show will see Sela Ward playing the role of the detective and going by the first episode that was aired on Friday, the show promises to be as exciting as the last six seasons.

The executive producer of the show revealed to the media that they had written six scripts in the off season and all of them were ready for shooting. He explained that right before the start of the shoot of ‘CSI: NY‘ the fallout with the former lead actress took place. Though the reason for the season’s shift to the Friday night time slot is unclear, some feel that it could be an indication that the show is in its last season.

Sela Ward, who is a Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning actress, revealed that timing was everything for her when it came to accepting the offer. She explained that she was on a break from acting to spend more time with her kids. She said that the kids had grown older and the offer to do the lead role in ‘CSI: NY‘ was attractive to her because she knew it was an ensemble cast and she did not have to carry the show entirely on her shoulder.
