NEW YORK - Elle magazine has been accused of digitally lightening actress Gabourey Sidibe’s skin on their October cover.

Sidibe, 27, had along with four other young actresses been chosen to appear on four separate covers of Elle magazine’s 25th anniversary issue, but somehow the ‘Precious’ star’s appearance looked digitally enhanced.

Elle has been accused of digitally lightening the skin of the African-American actress by several media outlets.

The Telegraph has also pointed out that while Elle chose to show full-length poses of Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, and Lauren Conrad, it opted to crop the photo of plus-size Sidibe to chest level.

Elle has said that nothing out of the ordinary has been done to the cover images.

“We have four separate covers this month and Gabby’s cover was not retouched any more or less than the others,” the New York Daily News quoted the magazine as saying in a statement.

“We had 25 cover-worthy subjects in our portfolio and we chose Gabby because of who she is.

“We shot this as a story of exuberant young women changing the world. If you take a look at the portfolio, each of the women were shot in different ways and for different reasons,” it stated. (ANI)
