September 16th, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Tamil film director Samuthirakani, who was recently seen acting in a cameo role in the Malayalam movie Shikaar, is now going to debut in Malayalam films as a director. He played the role of a Naxalite leader called Abdulla in this Mohanlal starrer Eid release Shikaar.

The director received many accolades for his performance in this movie. This has probably inspired the director to try his hands in directing a Malayalam movie, and that too, with Mollywood superstar Mohanlal. The director has reportedly received a positive nod from Mohanlal and is soon going to start work on the script of this movie.

Samuthirakani is planning to start work on his Malayalam project after completing his Tamil movie with his favorite actor Sasikumar. He is going to take help from a renowned Malayalam scriptwriter to write his Malayalam dialogues.

The director’s latest Tamil release Nadodigal has been a runway hit. Samuthirakani also acted in 2008 film Subramaniapuram, which was written, directed and produced by Sasikumar. This low budget movie was appreciated for its original script, fantastic direction, editing and screenplay. Samuthirakani was nominated for ‘Filmfare Best Supporting Actor’ award for his performance in this movie.

Considering his success as both actor and director, will Samuthirakani try his acting skill in his Mohanlal starrer Malayalam movie too?
