Pasanga and Ilayaraja honored with 57th National Awards

September 16, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The winners of the 57th National Awards were announced this morning by filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, Head of Awards Jury. This time, it’s Bollywood that sweeps most of the awards as Amitabh Bachchan has been announced as ‘Best Actor’ for his outstanding performance in ‘Paa’ and best actress award goes to Ananya Chaterjee for her proficient performance in Bengali film ‘Abohoman’.

Tamil film ‘Pasanga’ has been declared as ‘Best Tamil Movie’ in the regional category while Maestro Ilayaraja wins ‘Best Background Score’ for his stupendous score in ‘Pazhassi Raja’. Kishore and Sriram have won Best Child Actor Awards.

‘Pasanga’ has already won 2009 International Children’s Film Festival (Golden Elephant Award for Best Director – Pandiraj, 2009 Chennai International Film Festival (Second Best Feature Film) and 2010 Puducherry Government Awards for Best Feature Film.

‘Pasanga’ is produced by filmmaker-producer-actor Sasikumar, who’s other films – Subramaniapuram and Nadodigal have been blockbusters.
