CHENNAI - Tamil movie “Pasanga” bagged three prizes at the 57th National Film Awards and director Pandiraj gives credit to producer Sasikumar for turning the script into reality and says it places more responsibility on him to make more such good films.

Kishore and Sri Ram shared the best child artist awards for their performance in “Pasanga”; Pandiraj won the best dialogue award for the film; and it was also declared the best Tamil film.

“I thank Vasu and Kathir who introduced me to Sasikumar at a time when I had no hope of making this film except by producing it myself. I thank Sasikumar for his confidence in me,” Pandiraj said after the awards were announced Wednesday.

“He okayed this film even when he had not yet released ‘Nadodigal’. He told me, ‘Success is not in our hands, but you and I will certainly get a good name for making a film like this.’ This has come true. My responsibility to make good films has now increased. An award like this is a dream for every director and this dream has come true,” he added.

The entire “Pasanga” team met the media Wednesday evening and thanked everyone for their support. Child artists Kishore, 13, and Sriram, 14, were jubilant at their victory. Cameraman Premkumar along with actor Jayaprakash was also present at the press meet.

“I thank Pandiraj. I selected the story, but it was he who executed it so well. I thank all the actors, technicians and media along with the public for making the film a success. I dedicate the award to all cinema ‘rasigas’ (lovers),” said Sasikumar.
