Stephen Frears Actor Ignorance

September 14, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):Stephen Frears is well respected in the film maker’s club for his wonderful contributions to international cinema. His latest movie ‘Tamara Drewe’ was recently released. The movie stars famous actors like Gemma Arterton and Dominic Cooper. The ‘Queen’ director recently admitted that he has never seen the previous works of Gemma Arterton or Dominic Cooper.

Stephen Frears revealed that both Gemma and Dominic Cooper were recommended to him commenting on the incident Stephen said, “I know this sounds ridiculous but I didn’t know that Dominic had been in ‘Mamma Mia!’ nobody told me. I was even more innocent than you imagine. The casting director said he wanted Dominic Cooper, so I thought fine.”

The director also revealed that even to this day he has never seen any of Gemma Arterton’s performances. The director also said that filming the movie in the country side helped him learn a lot of new things.

The director said, “I thought it was funny and sexy, but the truth is after a time you start to realize how complex things are. One of the unconscious things might have been to do with Dorset. I’ve learnt a lot about the countryside, so I’m sure that was all going on in my unconscious mind in some way.”
