Stand Up To Cancer 2010: Star Studded Event

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The much touted “Stand Up To Cancer” telethon that was aired yesterday on the major TV networks turned out to be a truly star studded event for the viewers. Neil Diamond, Seth Rogen and Adam Sandler were among the several celebrities and media persons who joined the event and it was a treat for their fans as one can imagine. Leading stars like George Clooney, Jay Leno and hunky Ryan Seacrest also attended the event. The moneymaking event meant for combating cancer the fatal ailments was aired simultaneously by networks like NBC, Fox, CBS and ABC. Some cable channels also aired the event live and it was watched by millions of viewers.

The “Stand Up To Cancer” telethon was hosted by personalities like Katie Couric, Brian Williams, Diane Sawyer and the producer of the show was TV and film producer Laura Ziskin, who is a cancer survivor. The money raised from the show will be donated to innovative cancer research. The first such telethon was arranged two year back and it was also a successful event. It is not yet known how much money has been raised from this years event.

The “Stand Up To Cancer” telethon 2010 had the right blend of information and entertainment which kept the viewers glued to their TV screens. The highlight of the entire event was the time when Neil Diamond performed a well known Beatles track titled ‘ Yesterday’. He was assisted by Herbie Hancock. The description of his niece who succumbed to cancer at the age of 30 made many of the viewers teary eyed.
