September 8, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): After a successful 1st Edition - Mumbaites had drool over Latin American Dances with “The 2nd Maharashtra Open DanceSport Championship 2010, 5th September, 2010 at Mayfair Rooms, Worli, Mumbai”

DanceSport (competitive dancing) is a fascinating sport that has drawn people in over 84 countries on all 6 continents into its spell. DanceSport is a team sport generally defined as the pairing of male and female dancers as a couple (or a group of couples combining as a team).

Your very own Maharashtra Open DanceSport Championship just gets bigger and better and this year, offers you different grades of expertise in Dance Forms like Latin – Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa, Jive and Samba along with Ballroom – Waltz, Quickstep, Fox Trot, Viennese Waltz, Social Dancing. This year the competition had also featured Paso Doble as a special attraction.

Among the Who’s Who of the Glamour World we are pleased to have Mr. Aditya Narayan, Mr. Ashmit Patel, Ms. Asha Patel (mother of Amisha Patel) . Their esteemed presence is sure to cheer up the competitors and glamorize the evening furthermore.

Over 50 Couples from leading dance institutes within Maharashtra have compete with each other in this Enlivening Championship, which had attracted an audience of 200+ people, thus making it a non-crowded elite and classy event with an aim to entertain people across all age groups and genre.

The 1st ever Maharashtra Open DanceSport Championship on the 6th August 2009 at Mumbai, was a one of its kind event that happened in Maharashtra. The event received an overwhelming response from dancers across cities and proved to be an out and out entertainer to a crowd of around 130 dance lovers.

Dr. Priti Gupta - Organizing Secretary of Dancesport Association of Maharashtra (DSAM) and co-owner of DanceSport India said – “This is just another step towards creating DanceSport Champions in India and DanceSport Association of Maharshtra is on its quest for a gold medal for India at International Games.”

Shannon Benjamin – General Secretary of DanceSport Association of Maharashtra and co-owner of DanceSport India says – “This year Asian Games has recognized DanceSport as a medal sport. We are positive that sooner or later even the Olympics will include DanceSport.”
