Modern Family and Mad Men sweep the Emmys

August 30, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The Sunday’s Emmy awards saw two shows absolutely swept most of the awards. The darkly intimate 1950s era drama ‘mad Men’ and the hilarious ‘Modern Family’ were among the top Honorees in this television event.

Steve Levitan the executive producer of ‘Modern Family’ expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the fans of the show, who turned the show into a huge hit. The best comedy series award was the first Emmy win for the freshman comedy sitcom. Eric Stonestreet also bagged an Emmy on the Best Writing category.

On the other hand, ‘mad Men’ won its third consecutive best drama series award. Mathew Wiener, the creator of ‘mad Men’ did not seem over the top and accepted his award humbly. He also joked that he always knew in his heart that some day he would run somewhere and win a trophy and today his dream came true.

The musical-comedy ‘Glee’ started the night has the most nominated series and managed to bag two Emmys, one for Jane Lynch and another for the director Ryan Murphy. Jim Parsons, who plays “Sheldon Cooper” in ‘The Big Bang Theory’, won the trophy for Best lead actor in a comedy series.
