Kyra Sedgwick Earns Emmy Award

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- Actress Kyra Sedgwick was honored with an Emmy award in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles last night. The award ceremony came with its share of surprise winners who could not be predicted by the experts of the television entertainment industry. Given the fact that Kyra Sedgwick had been receiving nominations in the same category for the last five years since 2006 but she was unable to bag the award every time, lady luck was surely smiling at her last night, when the prayers of her fans were finally answered and the noted actress walked away with her very first Emmy honor.

Although Kyra Sedgwick had been able to win a Golden Globe award in the 2006 for her performance in the TNT crime drama series “The Closer,” an Emmy award had always remained elusive for 45-year-old actress until last night. However, things definitely turned out to be quite different for “The Closer” star at the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards during when she was declared the best lead actress in a drama during the award ceremony.

Apart from Kyra Sedgwick, the other actress who had received a nomination in the category included “Mad Men”’s January Jones, Mariska Hargitay of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” ‘The Good Wife”s Julianna Margulies, “Damages” star Glenn Close as well as Connie Britton of “Friday Nights Lights.” Kyra Sedgwick’s win was come as a surprise to many as Julianna Margulies was considered to be the frontrunner in this category.
