NEW DELHI - Admirers of Salman Khan were left disappointed Sunday when the Bollywood superstar gave the BSA Hercules India Cyclothon in the capital a miss for security reasons.

A cycling fanatic Salman, who is often seen peddaling with his bodyguards on the busy roads of Mumbai, was scheduled to participate in the event in the capital along with his brothers Arbaaz, Sohail, sister Alvira and sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan.

“They (Salman and family) are not coming now. All we know is that it is because of some security issue,” said an official, after the celebrities didn’t turn after a considerable wait by the media and fans.

The actor was supposed to cycle with the participants to spread awareness about how the sport helps to stay fit and counter heart ailments.

Rahul Aggarwal, a fan-cum-participant, who was here since 6 a.m. to cycle with his idol was upset with the no show.

“I so much wanted to meet him. I’ve never seen him and this could have been so cool to have a cycle race with him,” said the 20-year-old.

Salman’s absence was to some extent was made up by Bollywood actress Chitrangada Singh.
