LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The American actress Roony Mara has nabbed the coveted role of Lisbeth Salander in the upcoming movie “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”. Yesterday in a press release the representatives of The Columbia Pictures made an announcement saying that “The Social Network” star will be seen opposite Daniel Craig in the film which is scheduled to release next year. Kristen Stewart, Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Ellen Page, and “Alice In Wonderland” star Mia Wasikowska were all said to have been in the running for the role but finally Roony Mara bagged it.

Roony Mara will now be seen in the lead role of the film version of “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” of late author Stieg Larsson’s bestselling book of the same name. She will play the role of brilliant and dangerous computer hacker Lisbeth Salander. The “007″ star Daniel Craig will play her love interest in the movie and it will be directed by David Fincher of “Curious Case Of Benjamin Button” fame. Media reports that Rooney Mara has secured the lead in three Hollywood adaptions of Stieg Larsson’s “The Millennium Trilogy”. The first film “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” will be filmed in Sweden and United States and it is scheduled to hit theaters next year.

Roony Mara and Daniel Craig will reportedly be seen in the American versions of Stieg Larsson’s other two sequels “The Girl Who Played With The Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest”. However, David Fincher in one of his interviews said that he has no plan to make any sequel right at this point of time. The audience will also see the actress in “The Social Network” directed by David Fincher and the film is all set to hit the theaters soon.
