August 16, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Malaika Arora became ‘Munni Badnaam’ for hubby Arbaaz Khan’s ‘Dabangg’ and no one had any question. After all she is country’s most famous woman when it comes to item song and dance performance in films. However, when the news break happened around Vidya Balan agreeing to do an item number for an upcoming film, many were left amazed. After all Vidya has played a woman of substance in each of her outings so far and she was the most unusual suspect when it came to being roped in just for a song sequence.

No wonder, while Vidya’s decision could well be a trend setter of sorts, there are others who haven’t stepped into this zone so far but don’t quite mind doing so in near future. Mugdha Godse is one such female.

"Why should I have any problems with that? There are so many girls who are doing that and it only adds to your profile. But yes, a lot will depend on how this song has been created and how does it actually fit into the narrative", says Mugdha when questioned if she would be open to have just four or five minutes of presence if a prominent film maker asks her to step in for an item number performance.

However, this is definitely not a career route that she is opting for and it would have to be an exception rather than a rule. Also, Mugdha is sure that a lot would also depend upon her personal equation with a film maker and the lure of big bucks would by no means be a deciding factor for her.

"This is why so much depends upon the individual with whom I would be working with. I would have lesser questions if I was called by someone with whom I have already worked in the past. If he tells me that he feels I would be the right fit for an item song, I wouldn’t say no because I have worked with him and understand his aesthetics", reasons Mugdha, "However, if tomorrow some other director comes to me with whom I haven’t worked before then I would have to give it a lot more thinking there."

Well, did anyone hear that?
