August 13, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Over the past couple of years, actor Vijay has been acting in more quickies and got at least 2 films released a year. Be his Villu, Vettaikaran or Sura, these projects were completed within short span of time and unfortunately happened to be flop shows. Ensuring that the same scenario doesn’t persist, the actor has now decided to shoot his next film Velayutham for a long schedule of 180 days.

The film is reported to be a remake of Telugu movie Azad that featured Nagarjuna, late actress Soundarya, and Shilpa Shetty in lead roles.

Velayutham started rolling a month ago and is now put on hold as Vijay has resumed shooting for his other film Kaval Kadhal. Closer sources have reported that Vijay will take 6 months to complete this film. It’s worth mentioning that Vijay had previously taken 7 months for his Ghilli and after so many years has opted for the same pattern.

Velayutham is produced by Aascar Ravichandran and is directed by Jeyam Raja. The film features Tollywood’s hottie Hansika Motwani and Genelia D’ Souza in female lead roles.

Vijay Anthony is scoring music for this film and Priyan is handling cinematography.
