Pak rulers should have promptly reciprocated Cameron’s insulting remarks: Imran Khan

LAHORE - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has termed British Prime Minister David Cameron’s remarks as insulting, and said that it was not for the first time that such derogatory comments have been ignored.
“Our rulers should have promptly reciprocated, but they lack self-respect and leadership qualities,” The Dawn quoted Khan, as saying.
He also demanded from Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari to cancel his scheduled visit to the United Kingdom to protest against Cameron.
“Under these circumstances, President Asif Ali Zardari’s insistence on touring the UK has bewildered every loyal Pakistani,” he added.
Cameron, during his last week’s visit to India had accused elements within Pakistan of “looking both ways” on terrorism.
According to report, the Prime Minister will not apologise when Zardari arrives in London on Tuesday to begin his five-day official trip.
Cameron’s aides said that he did not regret his comments, despite them creating fury in Islamabad.
He, however, will absolve the Pakistan government of any blame for promoting extremism and violence, as he is determined to build on a history of good relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Zardari is expected to make clear his displeasure over his host’s remarks, and convey the sentiments of the Pakistanis in a forthright manner.
During his visit, the Pakistan President will meet Cameron at his country residence in Chequers, on the outskirts of London, on August 6. (ANI)
