Veteran Malayalam Director Viswambharan Passes Away At 69

June 16, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Veteran Malayalam director P.G. Viswambharan has taken his last breath at 1.20 am on Wednesday, at a private hospital. He was 69 and is survived by his wife, son and a daughter.

He had been suffering from illness for some time but the condition worsened on Tuesday. The last rites of the director will take place at Palakkad.

He had a career spanning almost four decades with 60 Malayalam films to his credit. His last movie was Puthooramputhri Unniyarcha, which was released in 2002.

Viswambharan started his career as an assistant director. He worked with veteran Sasikumar for a decade before becoming a full-fledged director in 1976, with Ozhukkinethire.

He has given several hit films with superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal, who became stars after acting in his films.

The list of the veteran director’s hit film includes Chakara, Thirakel Alapesamyam, Ee Sabdham Enathe Sabdam, Kattu Kuthira, Gajakesariyogam and Ezhupunna Tharakan.
