LONDON - Katherine Heigl has said that being a mum helped her realise her parent’s suffering when her brother died in 1986.

The ‘Knocked Up’ star’s older brother Jason died at the age of 15 when he was thrown from the back of a pick-up truck in a car accident.

Mum of a baby girl, Heigl, said that she observed her mum and dad mourning since he died, but it was only recently that she realised the pain they went through.

Heigl thinks that she can empathise with their loss now because she is a mother of an adopted daughter Naleigh and has even started talking to her mum about the tragic accident.

“I sat with my parents’ pain since I was seven years old, and it was devastating to all of us,” the Daily Star quoted Heigl as saying.

She added: “But I didn’t really understand what they went through until I became a mother myself. I just asked my mum last week, ‘How did you do it? How do you survive that?’” (ANI)
