SYDNEY - ‘Twilight’ star Kristen Stewart is playing the role of a punk singer in new movie ‘The Runaways’.

‘The Runaways’, which is about four young teenage girls who leave home to go on the road, stars Stewart, 20, as pivotal band member Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as the lead singer Cherie Currie, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

The movie features lashings of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, as the underage outfit, created by their eccentric, ambitious and brutal manager Kim Fowley (played by Michael Shannon), tour the world and, in four short years, leave an incalculable influence in their wake.

The film, which features Stewart and Fanning sharing a passionate onscreen kiss, holds nothing back as it relives the girls’ rapid, rags-to-riches tale of success and excess. (ANI)
