LONDON - Hollywood actor Joseph Gordon Levitt is being tipped to play the role of villain The Riddler in the much-awaited sequel of blockbuster “The Dark Knight”.

The “GI Joe” star is reportedly in line to take on the role of The Riddler, which was also linked to Eddie Murphy and Johnny Depp in past two years, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

The Riddler is a character who, with his self-conscious use of a gimmick, commits crimes which are flamboyant and ostentatious. He delights in forewarning both Batman and police of his capers by sending them complex clues about his crimes.

The film is expected to hit the big screen in 2012, four years after the huge success of “The Dark Knight”. The movie will be directed by Christopher Nolan while David Goyer is currently working on the script.

I had been hoping to hear that Johnny Depp was named to the Riddler role, but I am thrilled to see that Joseph Gordon Levitt nailed it. This guy has fantastic talent and, I have no doubt, will do a great job. Excellent choice!
