WELLINGTON - Singer Mariah Carey has fuelled rumours that she is pregnant after she dropped out of a film citing “medical reasons”.

Carey quit Tyler Perry’s new film, an adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s 1975 play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf”, shooting for which was due to start next month.

The singer-actress had won critical acclaim for her role in “Precious”, which Perry produced, reports stuff.co.nz.

A representative for Carey, who is married to rapper Nick Cannon, announced she had pulled out of the film.

“She is not doing the movie because her doctor advised her not to. I’m not at liberty to discuss her personal life at this time,” the spokeswoman said.
